The Politics of Hindutva and Popular Resistance
Recent depictions of Narendra Modi have portrayed his BJP government as an unstoppable force advancing towards their vision of a Hindu Rashtra. Demonetization, the recent Citizenship Amendment laws, and the abrogation of Section 370 are cited as examples of the right-wing’s determination to proceed despite widespread opposition. Massive resistance against the neoliberal farmer bills however, appears to have stopped them in their tracks. We will speak with Suchitra Vijayan about the significance of the Delhi Morcha in this broader context of resisting Hindutva and the repression of dissent in the subcontinent.
