It is clear that the recent bills did not emerge out of a vacuum, but that they developed out of a specific political context. This talk will delve into some of that background, from the Green Revolution in the 1960s, Sikh sangarsh in the 1980s, and the introduction of neoliberalism in the 1990s. We will speak with Hamir Singh & Prabjot Singh to discuss how Punjab and the broader region has changed through these processes, and what role Hindu nationalism has played in shaping this trajectory.
